Eileen was born November 16, 1926 in New Munich to Peter and Elizabeth (Mondloch) Olmscheid. She grew up in Cold Spring and graduated from St. Boniface High School. She continued her education at the St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing earning her RN degree with the graduating class of 1947. She married Sylvester Janey on June 12, 1948 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. Together in Sauk Rapids they raised their ten children. Not only did she care for ten babies of her own but had the privilege of welcoming hundreds of babies into the world during her 17 year career as an RN in the nursery at the St. Cloud Hospital. Eileen retired in 1985 but her legacy continues through the nursing careers of two daughters and three granddaughters. With ten children, eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren hosting big family gatherings became her specialty. She loved Holiday family gatherings but on a quieter note she also loved to escape to her favorite hideaway on Duck Lake. At the cabin she enjoyed fishing, berry picking and feeding and watching the hummingbirds while leisurely sipping her morning coffee. Whether at the cabin or at home “Mom” was always up for a game of scrabble. She also enjoyed playing bingo, her card group and making prayer blankets for her church. Eileen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a former member of the Christian Mothers and small church community group.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Susan) of St. Cloud, Timothy (Barb) of Waite Park, Susanne Janey of Foley, Mary (Don) Allen of Rochester, Ronald (Elva) of Ponca City, OK, Carleen (Jerry) Borth of St. Cloud, Carl (Dominick) of Watertown, MA, Joan (Tom) Smith of St. Cloud, Theodore (Kris) of Chaska, Tony of Bloomington; twin sister, Irene Schwinghammer of Waite Park; brother, Arnold of St. Cloud; 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
