Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice for Edwin T. Aschenbrenner, age 91, of Sauk Rapids who died Thursday at his home in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Thomas Becker will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church in Rice. Rice American Legion Post 473 will pray at 6:00 p.m. followed by Knights of Columbus Bishop Busch Council #9138 at 6:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 7 p.m. all Monday evening at the church in Rice.

Ed was born October 10, 1923 in Rice to Martin & Margaret (Binsfeld) Aschenbrenner. He married Dorothy Kuehn on November 29, 1951 at St. John’s Parsonage in Clarion, Iowa. After marriage the couple moved to Pine City, MN, Swea City, IA and finally to Opole, MN where they owned and operated the Opole Creamery. In 1969 they moved to Sauk Rapids, MN and owned and managed Aschenbrenner Refrigeration until 1989. Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time on the river. Ed also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling and gardening, his raspberries were his pride and joy! He was a hard worker who would lend a helping hand to anyone. Ed was a kind, gentle, friendly, caring, devoted man with a great sense of humor and strong faith in God. Ed was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Bishop Busch Council #9138, Rice American Legion Post 473 and Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992.

Survivors include his children, Gary Aschenbrenner (Mary Popp) of Sauk Rapids, Carol (Steve) Schlichting of Sauk Rapids, Sue (Paul) Bjorklund of Eagan, Annie (Erik) Thompson of Orono; grandchildren, Amy, Theo, Dustin, Spencer, Cody, Nicholas, Mackenzie, Isaac and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy on April 16, 2009; brothers, Elmer and Leander Aschenbrenner; sisters, Olivia Walters, Irene Goebel and an infant sister.
