Early Morning Fire Damages Garages in SE St. Cloud [PHOTOS]

ST. CLOUD -- No one was hurt in an early morning garage fire in southeast St. Cloud.

A neighbor called to report a detached two-stall garage at 1112 12th Avenue Southeast was on fire. When crews arrived shortly after 1:00 a.m. the garage was fully engulfed.

St. Cloud Fire Marshall Mike Post says a car, motorcycle and all of the contents were lost in the blaze. Post says their initial damage estimate is $21,000. He says as many as four other garages nearby were also damaged, although no estimate is available.

Post says the fire is believed to have started from day-old ashes from a recreational fire which were put into a bag and leaned up against the garage. Post wants to caution you about the dangers of old coals or ashes. He says you should place them in a metal container until they can be disposed of.
