Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Earl M. Jonas, 78, of St. Cloud will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Earl passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community Center in St. Cloud after a long, hard battle with cancer. Reverend Douglas Liebsch will officiate. Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Cloud.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Earl was born on October 16, 1937 in Paynesville, Minnesota to Albert and Mary (Thelen) Jonas. The family moved to St. Cloud and Earl was a graduate of Cathedral High School in 1955 and the St. Cloud Business College. Earl served his country in the U.S. Naval Air Reserve until 1963. He was united in marriage to Mary C. Ruegemer on August 12, 1967 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud.

Earl loved hunting, fishing, camping, canoe trips, music, playing his guitar and was known as a “jack of all trades”. He treasured spending time with his family and was always willing to lend a hand. He will be remembered as a loving, kind and compassionate man.

He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Mary; sons, Jon (Donna) Ehnert of Berthoud, Colorado; Kurt (Shelly) Jonas of Annandale; six grandchildren, Rachel, Jonny and Heather Ehnert, Benjamin, Madalyn and Kathryn Jonas; sister and brothers, Sally (Harvey) Heurung of New Brighton, Kevin (Clare) of Ham Lake, Victor (Gerri) of St. Cloud; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A special thank you to all of the caregivers for their professional and compassionate care over the last year.
