DULUTH (AP) - Duluth police say a mother who claimed she and her 2-year-old son were stranded at Walmart robbed a woman who gave them a ride.

Authorities say the 77-year-old driver told investigators she felt bad that the young child was out in the cold, so she agreed to give them a lift to West Duluth last Saturday. When they arrived, police say the 19-year-old mother pulled the driver from the car, pushed her to the ground and took off with the woman's vehicle, purse and other possessions.

The suspect and stolen vehicle, with the toddler inside, were found a short time later. The teenage mother is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on possible charges that include child endangerment.
