Duluth Man, 72, Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle

DULUTH (AP) - Duluth police say a 72-year-old man has died after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a road over the weekend.

The victim was identified Monday as Eugene Lloyd Thompson of Duluth. Police say Thompson was hit by a vehicle driven by a 75-year-old Duluth man on Saturday afternoon. Thompson was taken to a hospital and later died of his injuries.

A preliminary investigation suggests Thompson was struck while he crossed the road in the middle of the block and not at an intersection or crosswalk.

Police say there is no indication that the driver was impaired or distracted by a cellphone. The investigation continues.
