Duluth Aquarium To Feature Shipwrecks, Add Space

DULUTH, (AP) - The Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth is planning a new exhibit on what becomes of shipwrecks in freshwater and saltwater.

The exhibit slated to open next summer will be one of the most expensive in the aquarium's history. The more than $400,000 price tag includes $200,000 in state grant money.

The aquarium also plans to spend another $265,000 to transform catering facilities into educational space.

It's the latest reinvestment in a facility that was written off as a failure a few years ago. Though revenue has risen, the aquarium still depends on a city subsidy to stay in the black.
