A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 6PM at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Duane E. Westberg, age 77, of St. Cloud who passed away Saturday. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Relatives and friends may call from 4-8PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Duane was born in Linsell Township, Marshall County on October 14, 1939 to Everet and Anna (Dahl) Westberg on the family farm, delivered by his grandmother, Polly Dahl. He enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school and returned home to attend college at Bemidji State where obtained his teaching degree. He married Sandi Baltes on April 23, 1966 in Blackduck, MN and they later divorced. Duane taught 7th grade History at John XXIII for seven years before returning to active duty in the United States Army Active Reserve. He retired as a Sergeant First Class after 26 years of service. Duane was a lifetime member of the NRA and Pantowners Car Club. He was passionate about cars, particularly Buicks and enjoyed attending car shows. Duane loved dancing, history, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Duane is survived by his close friend and dance partner, Lu Cave of Sartell; children, Eric (Crescent Hess) of Glenwood, Stephen (Lea) of Driftwood, Texas and Polly (Kevin) Kampsen of Annandale; grandchildren, Kira, Justin, Darian, Carter, Connor, Caitlin, Brianna, Harper and Colton; brother, Dayle Westberg of Shingletown, CA and sister, Dianne (Gary) Koski of Side Lake, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darell.
