Drunk Man Allegedly Calls 911 While Talking To Police

ST. CLOUD - A man who was allegedly drunk dialed 911 while he was talking to a St. Cloud police officer.

Police were dispatched to the area of 4th Street North and 9th Avenue North at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday) for a complaint of three drunk men.

Officers found 43-year-old James Powell of Waite Park.  While they were talking to him, Powell called 911 and hung up.  When dispatch called him back he said he was just kidding and that he was suicidal.  While he was being placed in a squad car he spit in the face of an officer.

He's expected to face charges of fourth degree assault and misuse of 9-1-1.
