MINNEAPOLIS -- Two people have drowned in Minnesota lakes.

Both drownings happened on a hot Saturday - one northwest of Minneapolis, the other in western Minnesota.

In Elk River, a man in his 40s went underwater while swimming in Lake Orono. The man was pulled from the water, but he could not be resuscitated.

The second drowning happened a few hours later on Lake Miltona near Miltona. The Douglas County sheriff's office got a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. about a male who went overboard and had not resurfaced. Divers recovered the victim's body from more than 6 feet of water about an hour later, but he could not be revived.

Names of the victims have not been released.
