ST. PAUL (AP) — Police say a driver apparently annoyed he was going to be late for work ran over a construction worker's foot in downtown St. Paul.

Two workers were trying to stop traffic to make way for a semi-truck Tuesday morning when one of the men stopped a vehicle at the crosswalk. The driver became irritated and swore at the workers.

When the driver started to inch forward, one of the workers slammed his hands on the vehicle's hood and told him to stop. But instead, the driver accelerated and ran over the right foot of one of the workers. The driver got out, apparently to assess the damage, and then left.

The worker had on safety boots and wasn't hurt.

No arrests have been made.
