Driver Pleads Guilty in Fatal Interstate Crash That Killed a Paynesville Man
MENOMONIE, Wis. (AP) - A semi driver has pleaded guilty to a felony charge in a fatal interstate crash in Wisconsin that killed a Paynesville truck driver.
Twenty-three-year-old Destry Wilson, of Great Lakes, Ill., entered the plea to homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle as part of an agreement with prosecutors. Four other charges were dismissed.
Authorities say Wilson had parked his semi along Interstate 94 without proper lighting last July. A semi driven by 43-year-old Brian Paglusch of Paynesville, struck the parked semi and became engulfed in flames. An autopsy determined Paglusch died as a result of the fire, not the crash.
Dunn County District Attorney James Peterson will ask for no more than six months in jail as a condition of probation.
