Driver Guilty in Crash that Killed Couple
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A Golden Valley man has been found guilty of driving drunk and killing a Minneapolis couple.
Prosecutors say 56-year-old Philip Bertelsen was driving more than 100 mph when he smashed into the back of the couple's vehicle on Nov. 3, 2013. Brandy Banks-Sutta and Melvin Jones were stopped at a red light when they were struck and killed.
Bertelsen had a blood alcohol level of .18, which is more than twice the legal limit for driving. Sentencing is scheduled Oct. 6.
