UPDATE: Driver Dies in I-94 Crash As Snowstorm Hits Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A teenage driver was killed as an April snowstorm made a slippery mess of Twin Cities roads.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 16-year-old Jonathon Pohlen of Houlton, Wis., was killed Thursday afternoon when he lost control on snowy Interstate 94 in eastern Minnesota, crossed over the median and collided with a truck’s trailer.

The National Weather Service in Chanhassen reported 5.3 inches of snow by early evening. Cambridge north of the Twin Cities had 8.4 inches.

The storm could dump up to a foot of snow in northeastern Minnesota by Friday.

National Weather Service meteorologist Dan Effertz says normally the Twin Cities should see highs approaching 60 this time of year. But temperatures will only reach the 50s next week.
