ST. CLOUD -- You can help keep up a national tradition of helping families in need -- and all you need to do is buy some donuts.

Tomorrow (Friday) is the 78th annual Salvation Army Donut Day, which collects money from donuts sold at local Coborn's stores.

One dollar from each $3 box of donuts sold at the stores will go to the Salvation Army.

Donut Day started during the Great Depression as a way to raise funds and awareness of the Salvation Army's service programs.

It is also held in honor of the "Donut Lassies" -- women volunteers who brought coffee, donuts and supplies to soldiers during World War I.
