Donald W. Piasecki, 88, Sartell

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell for Don, age 88, of Sartell who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at his home. Reverend Timothy Baltes will officiate.

Family and friends may call from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 and after 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the St. Francis Xavier Gathering Space in Sartell. Parish prayers and reflections will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and the rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Don was born August 8, 1927 in Sauk Rapids to Roman and Catherine (Krenzel) Piasecki. He grew up in Sauk Rapids and on January 30, 1951 married Marcella Traut in Sartell. He was a resident of Sartell since 1958. Don retired from the Veterans Administration in 1983 and did volunteer work at St. Francis Xavier School and Country Manor. He served on the Sartell Park Board. Don was a US Army veteran of WWII, member of the Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992, and Knights of Columbus Bishop Trobec Council 5276 of Sartell/St. Stephen.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Marcella; children, John and Ruth, Jim and Cindy, Jan and John, Tom and Nadine, Jeanne and Paul; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brothers, Josephine, John, Ted, Ben, Tony, Emil, and Al.

Don, his father, three brothers, a nephew and a son were diagnosed with various types of cancer. Donations are encouraged to cancer research.
