Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Don C. Stangler, age 78, of St. Stephen, will be 10:30 AM on Monday, March 23 at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in St. Stephen. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Don passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Thursday at the St. Cloud Hospital after a long battle with health issues. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM on Sunday and again after 9:30 AM Monday at the St. Stephen Parish Hall. St. Stephen parish prayers will be at 7:00 PM on Sunday at the parish hall. Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin Funeral Homes.

Don was born December 14, 1936 in St. Rosa to Frank and Christine (Arnzen) Stangler. He grew up in St. Rosa and married Rita Kantor on June 26, 1965, they enjoyed 50 years together. The couple moved to Brooklyn Center, where they lived for many years. Don worked as a machinist at A-1 Engineering in Coon Rapids. Don and Rita moved to St. Stephen after they retired. Don loved the outdoors, especially his trips to Alaska and spending time at their cabin in Nisswa. He also enjoyed playing cards and watching his favorite western shows. He was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church.

Don is survived by his loving wife and caregiver Rita, St. Stephen; his brothers and sisters Marie Heitzman, Albany; Irene (Martin) Wolbeck, St. Cloud; Ralph (Inez) Stangler, Sauk Rapids; Tom (Lucille) Stangler, St. Rosa, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Christine Stangler, his brothers and sisters Norbert Stangler, Regina Bergmann, Marge Paulsen, Clarence Stangler, and Alice Stangler.
