June 6, 1952 - December 25, 2014

 

Donald Spilman, age 62, of Monticello, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, December 25, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Motley Free Methodist Church in Motley with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at 11:00 AM at the church on Tuesday.

Donald was born June 6, 1952, in Staples, MN, the son of Benjamin and Mabel (Noyes) Spilman. He was raised in the Leader area and graduated from Staples High School before attending Wadena Vocational and Technical School. In 1971, he married Doloris Drew at the Lutheran Church in Leader, MN. Donald worked in the Minneapolis Metro area for a number of companies, including: Precision Machine, NW Automatics, and Marksman Metals. The couple made their home in the Monticello Area. Doloris passed away in 2009. Donald recently retired due to health concerns. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He cherished spending time with his family – especially video games with his grandchildren.

He will be missed by his son, Matt (Melissa), of Maple Lake; daughters, Marie (Mark Comstock) Spilman, of Oskaloosa, IA and Linda (Terry) Schroeder, of Big Lake; grandchildren, Tiffany Schroeder and Jayden Comstock; brothers, Ernest, Leroy, Vernon, Edward, Douglas, Richard, and Walter; sisters, Josephine, Irene, Edna, Mary, Elaine; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doloris; his parents; and his brothers Wayne and Marvin.
