Dolores C. Schmitz, 88, Cold Spring

July 29, 1927 - February 5, 2016

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Dolores C. Schmitz, age 88, who died Friday at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Entombment will be in the Parish Mausoleum.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until mass in the church Narthex. Cold Spring Catholic Order of Foresters will pray a Rosary at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday in the church.

Dolores was born in Richmond to Frank and Cecelia (Kammers) Statz. She married Oswald M. Schmitz on September 9, 1947 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Dolores was a homemaker all her life. She loved gardening, quilting, sewing, coloring, playing cards, country music and needle work. Above all she loved her family. Dolores was a member of St. Boniface Christian Women and Catholic Order of Foresters #633.

Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Oswald; children, John (Mary), Jim (Debbie), Ken (Sharon), Janet (Dave) Jensen, Denis (Jean), and Mike; sister, Delphine Statz; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Margaret; brothers, Nicholas and Joseph Statz; and great-grandson, Dylan.
