SAUK CENTRE -- A Stearns County Sheriff's deputy was attacked by a dog this (Thursday) morning after he tried to subdue a woman who was acting erratically.

Officers were called to a farm along County Road 13 in Lake George Township at about 11:30 a.m. The farm's owner called to report a woman was driving erratically in their yard and "whipping donuts" in the farm yard.

A deputy arrived to find the woman on top of the truck yelling and screaming. The deputy talked the woman into coming down, but she let a large dog out of the truck at the same time. When the deputy tried to control 25-year-old Morgan Knutson, the dog bit the deputy in the leg.

Other officers arrived to restrain Knutson and contain the dog. During the struggle, a Sauk Centre Police officer was allegedly kicked in the head by Knutson.

Knutson, who has no permanent address, was taken to Sauk Centre Hospital via ambulance and ultimately taken to St. Cloud Hospital for an evaluation.

The officers were treated at Sauk Centre Hospital for minor injuries.

Knutson faces several charges including assault, terroristic threats and possibly driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
