Document Sheds New Light On Montevideo Weapons Case
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A newly unsealed court document says a Texas man tipped the FBI that a man he visited in western Minnesota was involved in more than just an ordinary protest movement.
The search warrant affidavit was made public Wednesday under an order from a federal magistrate judge on a motion from the Star Tribune to unseal it and other filings in the case of Buford Rogers. The 24-year-old was arrested in May what the FBI called a "terror plot" but was indicted only on weapons charges.
According to the document, the unnamed informant, from San Antonio, told the FBI he spent time with the Rogers family at their home near Montevideo, but left in late April when he believed Rogers was preparing an attack on a police station and other targets.
