DNR Warns Of High Water Levels

ST. PAUL (AP) - The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is warning about high water levels on rivers, creeks and lakes across the Twin Cities.

The St. Croix River is among those with a swift current. The boat launch at Taylors Falls is unusable because of the high water. The DNR says Prior Lake is about a foot higher than usual. Rocks, trees and other debris that are usually visible are now hidden just below the surface of the water.

DNR water patrol Lt. Adam Block says even with water temperatures of 60 degrees, a person thrown into the water can lose fine motor skills rather quickly. The DNR says there were 13 boating fatalities in Minnesota last year.
