RICE -- The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is looking for input on plans to address water quality problems on Little Rock Lake near Rice.

The DNR is proposing a drawdown next summer which would lower the lake level by three feet. The move is meant to remove excess nutrients and reduce the algae blooms in the lake.

The drawdown would lower Little Rock Lake and the Sartell Pool on the other side of Highway 10.

Lakeshore owners and lake users are asked to take a survey about the drawdown which could impact recreation on the lake for the six week drawdown period.

If approved, the drawdown would take place starting the second week of July 2017 through August.
