UNDATED -- An early start to the cross-country skiing and snowmobile season is prompting the DNR to give you some leads on the best places to ride or ski.

Snowmobilers can find the best snow conditions in central Minnesota along the Luce Line State Trail west of Hutchinson, Minnesota River Valley State Trail from Jordan to Shakopee Frontenac State Park near Red Wing and Nerstrand Big Woods State Park near Northfield.

Cross country skiiers can find the best trail conditions at Frontenac, Nerstrand and Sakatah Lake State Park near Faribault.

Lake Maria State Park, Wild River State Park and William O'Brien State park also are reporting good trail conditions for skiiers.
