ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud landmark could be moving off Division Street and just down the block if plans for a new CVS Pharmacy go through.

Dairy Queen on Division has been at that location since 1949. It has been in owner Bob Lahr's family since 1953. Now, in its third generation, Lahr says it may be time to move.

He says if plans for the pharmacy go through, they will move about a half block down 25th Avenue to the south and build a new Dairy Queen.

Lahr says the city's long term plans are to widen Division Street and that will force them to move from their current building. So, he says this deal makes sense for his business. The new location would allow Lahr to add a drive-through and expand the Orange Julius and Dairy Queen product lines. He adds, it will not be a DQ Brazier with indoor seating.

The St. Cloud Planning Commission Tuesday will consider a re-zoning request by Velmeir Companies to redevelop the block into a new CVS Pharmacy and Dairy Queen. It would also remove Mexican Village Too and Advanced Auto Repair.

Mexican Village Too owner Eduardo Martinez cautions that the project is far from a done deal.  However, he says if it goes through he plans to re-locate his restaurant.
