UNDATED - The police departments in the St. Cloud metro area want a diverse group of applicants for this year's "Metro Citizens Police Academy".

In light of recent events involving law enforcement nationwide, the local departments want people to apply who have questions specific to police procedures. Applicants critical of law enforcement response, and skeptical of law enforcement practices, are encouraged to apply.

The Academy is an eight-week course offered to residents in St. Cloud, St. Joseph, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, and Waite Park. Classes begin the first Thursday after Labor Day, and will be held from 6:00 until 10:00 p.m. at the various departments.

You must be at least 21 years old, and not have a criminal record.

Applications can be found on-line for each department's city website, or at the area police departments.
