District to Address Racial Imbalance at Talahi [AUDIO]

ST. CLOUD – The St. Cloud area school district needs to reduce the racial imbalance at Talahi Elementary. The school’s nonwhite population is now at 68%, which the state says it too high.
Superintendent Bruce Watkins says they’ll do what they can to comply with the state rules.

Watkins says a couple ways they could try to draw students from other parts of the district in to Talahi is by creating an immersion program or a magnate school that specializes in a subject like math or science.

Immersion programs at Clearview and Madison have been very popular programs for students both within the district and outside the district.
