ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud area school district is now looking to have a vote in the fall on whether to build a new Tech High School and renovate Apollo High School.

The board originally planned for a public vote in the spring, but came to an agreement during their work session meeting on Wednesday night that more time is needed.

School board chair Dennis Whipple says they want to have more opportunities for community feedback.

The district also wants more time to brainstorm ideas for the current Tech building if a new high school is built. Whipple says they want to make sure they have more time to make the right decision.

The next step for the district will be going over the design process in early February. The district will ask community members to provide feedback to help design the new Tech and remodeling to Apollo.

Whipple adds that the district also wants more time to work with the state on referendum laws and requirements.
