ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud Area School Board is considering spending $70,000 on a new study of the costs of special education programs.

Director of Student Services and Special Education Elizabeth Lodge-Rogers will make a presentation to the board at tonight's (Thursday) meeting.  She says, with little additional revenue coming-in, the district is continuing to look at ways to keep expenses down.

The St. Cloud Area School District is budgeted to spend nearly $26 million on special education in 2010-2011 -- that's more than a quarter of it's overall budget.

The school board already approved doing a study at an earlier meeting, tonight's action would approve the use of a Boston-based firm to conduct the study.
