ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Area School Board has voted to rescind a planned vote in November on the extension of an operating levy.

Back in May the board voted to bring the levy extension to the voters on the November ballot, but after discussions with new Superintendent Willie Jett, they decided to delay the vote.

The referendum would have asked voters to renew a tax that raises $6.8 million a year.  The tax is set to expire next year, so a renewal vote could come in the spring.

A second question on the ballot would have asked for another $1.5 million to pay for half of the costs to make upgrades to Clark Field.  The district, and Clark Field supporters, will now have to look for other ways to raise the money needed to restore the football field. The Tech High School football team was forced to move over to Husky Stadium last fall, and will play there again this year.
