ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Area School Board is expected to approve a plan tonight (Thursday) to make their buildings more energy efficient.

They plan to replace light bulbs, install low-flow plumbing fixtures, and button up the outside of buildings.

The $1.6 million project would be paid for by using what's called a performance lease.  The district would be allowed to complete the projects, then use the savings to repay the loan.

The district is expected to save about $193,000 a year.
