District 742 Reading Program Gets $30K Grant

ST. CLOUD - A reading program for District 742's youngest students has received a major grant.

The Otto Bremer Foundation has awarded nearly $30,000 to the Local Education and Activities Foundation for the "Partners And Kids Reading A Lot Together" - PAKRAT - program. It's a preschool through grade 3 child literacy and parent involvement program.

The money will be used to buy more books for each school. The PAKRAT program is also expanding to three St. Cloud Boys and Girls Club locations. And the money will also be used to run the summer "Read and Roll" program in the Talahi school. It delivers books to several locations in the Talahi district for students to read in the summer.
