FOLEY -- Bees, chickens and dogs were the hot topics of last (Monday) night's Foley planning commission meeting.

Community members discussed the keeping of bees and chickens in their backyards.

This is the second time within 10 months the topic of keeping chickens has been brought up.

City administrator Robert Barbian says no action was taken on the topic of raising chickens, however he says the planning commission will vote on developing an ordnance at their next meeting.

As for the discussion on keeping bees, Barbian says the ordnance was shut down with a 4-4 vote. He expects the topic to be addressed again at a future meeting.

Finally, the possibility of a dog park was also brought up. Barbian says they would like to hear some community feedback before moving forward.

The topic will be brought back for discussion at their August 8th meeting.
