APPLE VALLEY (AP) - The Minnesota Zoo will reopen to the public Tuesday after being closed one day due to dangerously cold weather.

The zoo in Apple Valley closed Monday after Gov. Mark Dayton ordered all K-12 public schools statewide closed.

Although the extreme cold is forecast to continue Tuesday, the zoo says it will be open to the public for its regular winter hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Outdoor exhibits, including the Northern Trail and Minnesota Trail, will remain closed to protect visitors and animals.

Giants Ridge in Biwabik will keep its ski operations shut down Tuesday due to the frigid conditions.

All scheduled St. Paul Parks and Recreation outdoor programming remains canceled until 3 p.m. Tuesday.
