SARTELL - Sartell is still planning to start school after Labor Day, despite district complaints to the state.

The holiday won't be until September 7th this year, which is the latest day the holiday can land.

Superintendent Jeff Schwiebert says they made a request to the state to allow the school to adjust its own schedule, but no action has been taken by the legislature.

Schwiebert says the district is frustrated but went ahead and approved its calendar so the community has plenty of time to prepare for the future.

The school board made an official request to state legislators during a meeting earlier this month, asking for local control of their own academic calendar.

The district feels having more control would better serve their needs and community desires.
