NEW HOPE (AP) - Authorities say two police officers are out of the hospital after being wounded in a confrontation outside a suburban Minneapolis City Council meeting that ended with the suspect being killed.

The Hennepin County sheriff's office identifies the officers as Joshua Eernisse and Beau Schoenhard.

Eernisse was one of two new officers who were sworn in Monday night at New Hope City Hall. Schoenhard was attending the ceremony and has been with the New Hope Police Department since 2008.

Authorities say the officers are doing well.

The son of the man who was killed in the confrontation tells The Associated Press his father had a long history of friction with authorities.
