AVON  -- Deputies have found a suspect that took off into a swamp after being pulled over early this (Saturday) morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened just after 3:00 a.m after deputies tried to pull a vehicle over.

A short pursuit began before the vehicle finally pulled over on County Road 54 in Avon Township. The driver then got out and fled on foot into a swamp area.

A ground search began with the help of dogs but ended due to open water and deep swamp land. A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter was called in to assist in the search.

Deputies later found the suspect after someone reported seeing a suspicious man near their garage on Shorewood Drive in Avon.

The man was found and match the description of the fleeing suspect.

A Gold Cross Ambulance was on scene to treat the man for cold weather exposure.
