VERNDALE -- The Todd County Sheriff's office arrested a man for allegedly neglecting horses.

Deputies executed a search warrant after responding to an animal welfare complaint. The were assisted by Senior Human Agent Keith Streff from the Animal Human Society.

The man and 14 neglected horses were taken from the property near Verndale. The man is also suspected of owning other horses found dead on a property near Eagle Bend.

The live horses were taken for treatment.

Deputies say a woman who was living at the search warrant sight, was an owner of some of the horses. She was not arrested at the time.

The case is currently under criminal investigation.

As the investigation continues the complaints will be forwarded to the Todd County Attorney's office for review.
