Dennis M. “Cooky” Cook, 83, St. Cloud

May 4, 1932 - June 8, 2015

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 6:00 PM, at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, for Dennis M. “Cooky” Cook, age 83 of St. Cloud, who passed away on June 8, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Alfred Stangl will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in Waite Park, on June 20, 2015.

Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. A celebration of Cooky’s life will follow the service.

Dennis was born on March 5, 1932 in St. Cloud to George, Sr. and Lillian (Murnane) Cook. He married Joan Mondloch on August 27, 1955. Dennis fought in the Korean War on the USS Essex. He was a part of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department Water Patrol and also served on the St. Cloud Township Planning Board. He retired from the St. Cloud Reformatory. Dennis enjoyed being at the lake with his family especially his grand and great grand kids. He also liked to hang out with friends at the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post 428 where he served as Past Commander, Board Member and on the Color Guard. He was also active in the Post’s 40 & 8.

Dennis is survived by his sons and daughter, Mike, Sue (Chan) Free, Pat, Chris (Sandra), Dan, and Jim (Lori); grandchildren, Shayanne, Garett, Baylee, Dakota, Adam, Andrew, Braylen, Bentley and Bryson; brothers and sisters, George Jr. (Marge), David (Annette), Donna Kruchten, and Phyllis Allison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Joni; daughter-in-law, Arlene Gilroy; brothers-in-law, Ralph Kruchten and Ken Allison and sister-in-law, Annette Cook.
