Delores K. Mendel, 83, Sauk Rapids

July 29, 1932 - February 17, 2016

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Cloud for Delores K. Mendel, age 83, who passed away Wednesday at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud. Rev. Henry Koopman will officiate and burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Popple Creek. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Faith Lutheran prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Delores was born July 29, 1932 in Glendorado Township to Olin & Mathilda (Appert) Stowe. She married Milton Mendel on April 25, 1953 at Glendorado Lutheran Church. The couple traveled, working road construction for the first eight years of marriage. They moved to the east side of St. Cloud in 1961, and to rural Sauk Rapids in 1979. Delores worked as a bindery operator for Sentinel Printing in Sauk Rapids for over 30 years. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, St. Cloud East Side VFW Post 4847 Auxiliary, and the Sweet Adeline’s for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, going to the cabin, and the outdoors. Delores was a talented seamstress and enjoyed baking poppy seed bread and Lefse. She was a caregiver who was always willing to donate her time. Delores loved cats and all animals. Christmas eve was always at her house.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy (Gerry) Schefers of St. Cloud and Karen Mendel of Golden Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton on June 2, 1996; and brother Harlan Stowe.

Memorials are preferred to CentraCare Hospice and St. Benedict’s Center.
