A Memorial Service remembering the life of Dean Richard Hunter, age 87, of Waite Park, will be held privately at a later date. There will be a private burial at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Saint Paul with military honors. Dean passed away early Saturday morning with family at his side at the Sterling Park Nursing Home in Waite Park. Arrangements are being made with Miller-Carlin Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Dean was born on April 20, 1928 in Lake Mills, IA to Ralph Lee and Myrtle Lillian (Oppedahl) Hunter. After graduating high school, he entered the military by joining the U.S. Navy. In 1950, Dean married the love of his life Carol Ann Bohanon and their union welcomed five children: Nancy Lou, Barbara Jean, Howard Dean, Carolyn Kay, and Colleen Marie. He worked as a transit bus driver for most of his life. Dean had many interests including family outings, fishing, bowling, and crossword puzzles. He loved his many pets and was a great supporter of the Humane Society. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Dean is survived by his five children, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Myrtle and his wife Carol in 2009.
