Deal Would Dismiss Case Against Ex-Minnesota Coach

FRIDLEY (AP) — The case against a former Minnesota high school football coach arrested in a prostitution sting will be dismissed if he meets conditions.

Fifty-four-year-old Mark Mauer was ordered in Anoka County court to pay $500 in prosecution costs and attend an eight-hour class on sex trafficking.

Mauer attorney Geoffrey Colosi says Mauer did not admit to any wrongdoing.

Fridley prosecutor Carl Newquist says Mauer will be on probation for the next year. Newquist says if Mauer violates any terms of the agreement, he can be brought back to court for trial.

Mauer was arrested Feb. 19 at a Fridley hotel during a police sting. He later resigned as head football coach at Hill-Murray High School.

Mauer is a cousin of Minnesota Twins star Joe Mauer.
