Dayton, Bakk Put On A Show In 1st Appearance After Blow-Up

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - If the falling out between Gov. Mark Dayton and Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk was achingly public, their patching up was equally so.

Thursday saw the first joint news conference with Dayton and Bakk since a disagreement over agency commissioner pay caused the governor to strongly lash out over the senator's integrity.

The Capitol's two most powerful Democrats mended fences in private a week ago.

But Bakk used a press conference on transportation to declare the two are "doing fine" now. He threw his arm around Dayton and invited photos as the pair beamed.

Dayton added that both were committed to "doing the best we can for the people of Minnesota."
