Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud for David J. Gerads, 82, of St. Cloud who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home in St. Cloud. Rev. Thomas Knoblach will officiate and burial with full military honors will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4-8PM on Monday, May 16, 2016 and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud. Parish Prayers will be prayed at 5:30PM Monday at the funeral home.

David was born on May 15, 1933 in Holdingford to Albert and Monica (Heitzman) Gerads. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. David married Dolores Ritter on January 9, 1954 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He worked as a Granite Cutter for Granite City, United and later Rex Granite until his retirement in 1997. David is a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post #621. He was loving, selfless, caring, thoughtful, and always abided by “Mom’s Rules.” David enjoyed trips to the casino, family trips and handyman work. Most importantly, David was proud of his family and would often say, “Don’t worry about me worry about yourselves.”

David is survived by his children, Duane (Ginny) of St. Cloud, Dale of St. Cloud, Dean of Sauk Rapids, Dawn of Sartell, David of St. Cloud; siblings, Isadore of St. Cloud, Ambrose (Shirley) of St. Cloud, Shirley (Jim) Shaw of St. Cloud; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores; siblings, Sylvester “Butch”, Violet, Alvina, Marvin, Annie; and infant brother, Elmer.

David’s family would like to thank the staff at CentraCare Hospice for their care, compassion, and sincerity in caring for David.
