David A. Halvorson, 79, South Haven

September 25, 1937 - March 10, 2017

Funeral Services will be held on March 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Clearwater United Methodist Church for David Allen Halvorson, age 79, of South Haven, who passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2017 at his home. Reverend Ruth Hograbe of Annandale United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in Acacia Cemetery, Clearwater.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater, and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Daniel Funeral Home, Clearwater.

Dave was born in Graceville, MN on September 25, 1937. He graduated from Ortonville High School in 1955. He Honorably Served his country in the United States National Guard from 1955 until 1963. Dave studied at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and later worked as an auto electrician on utility equipment at Tel-E-lect in Bloomington.

Dave was married to Carol McConnell on November 14, 1969, and they made their home in Minneapolis for nine years before moving to their farm near Clearwater where they built their home and started a strawberry and raspberry farm. They also owned several properties in Minneapolis where Dave worked as a landlord. He loved reading in his favorite chair surrounded by his pets and spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, building boats, and traveling to new places with Carol in their camper. Dave had a working knowledge of all things mechanical and could fix just about anything. He also enjoyed projects; he often ordered plans of one sort or another to build something. Even though Dave was a quiet person, he always seemed to be running into someone he knew and loved to visit.

Dave will be dearly missed by his wife, Carol Halvorson of South Haven; daughters, Carla Halvorson of South Haven and Becky (Chuck) Wachter of Crystal; grandchildren, Clara and Charlie Wachter; brother, Bruce (Jackie) Halvorson of Kensington and many other family members and friends.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Clara (Carlson) Halvorson and an infant brother, John William Halvorson.
