Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice for Daniel B. Harren, age 72, of Rice who died Thursday at his home. Rev. Thomas Becker will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church in Rice and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday also at the church. Knights of Columbus Bishop Busch Council 9138 will pray at 5:00 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 8:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Dan was born Mar. 14, 1942 in rural Benton County to Anton & Agnes (Diederich) Harren. He married Rosie Eich on Aug. 8, 1970 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in St. Cloud. They lived in Sartell and St. Cloud before moving to Rice in 1976. Dan worked for Gas Service Co. until health issues forced him to retire. He volunteered at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Dan was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Busch Council 9138 and was also a 3rd Degree Grand Knight. Dan was also a former Boy Scout leader, a former member of the Rice Fire Department for 20 years, and a member of the Rice Sportsman Club. Dan enjoyed fishing, woodworking, softball games, camping, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a kind, soft spoken, gentle, easy going man. Dan was hard working, very involved in the community, and always put others before himself. Faith was very important to him.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie of Rice; children, Kevin of Rice, Dale of Rice, Jean (Brian) Skroch of Rice and Scott (Heather) of Royalton; daughter-in-law, Janelle Harren of Holdingford; grandchildren, Lance, Sam, Kolton, Kenzie, Dylan, Ellea and Seth; sisters, Gen (Ray) Jansen of St. Cloud, Mildred Huberty of St. Cloud; brother, Virgil (Mary) of Sartell; sisters-in-law, Elaine and Kathy of Rice. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Brian and Keith; brothers, James and Donald; and brother-in-law, Marvin Huberty.
