Dale B. Nathan passed away on July 28, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Dale was born on March 31, 1930 to Christof and Magdeline Nathan. He grew up on the family farm near Turtle Lake, North Dakota. Dale served in the U.S.Air Force during the Korean War. After his military service he attended Minot State College and earned his teaching degree.

While working in various school systems across North Dakota, Dale earned his Masters of Education degree from the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. His education career spanned over thirty years, with the last twenty two at Brainerd Community College. In 1985 Dale retired from BCC (Now Central Lakes College) after serving in various roles from an instructor to the Dean of Students. He was instrumental in the founding of the CLC Foundation which provides scholarships to students. Dale re-careered and ran his successful appraisal company for another ten years. During his fifty one years in Brainerd he was involved with his church, Toastmasters, Boy Scouts, and Brainerd Rotary Club, where he was recently made an Honorary Rotarian. He was also a member of the American Legion, Last Man’s Club, and Elks Club. His passions included golfing, camping, and hunting. His greatest passion was traveling and spending time with his ever-expanding family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his brother Herbert Nathan of Turtle Lake, N.D., his sister Violet Lovette of Seattle, WA. along with his immediate family; his wife Ardis, children- daughters Brenda Marquette, Brainerd, MN, Deborah Barnes (Rick), Champlin, MN, Laurie Nathan, Cedar Falls, IA, son Craig (Cindy), Brainerd, MN and eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church 1420 S. 6th St. Brainerd, MN on Saturday August 2 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service at 9:00 AM. Memorial gifts can be made to the CLC Foundation- Nathan Family Scholarship Fund or to the American Heart Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
