SAUK RAPIDS -- A Waite Park man was hurt in crash Monday afternoon in Sauk Rapids.

The incident happened shortly after 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 15 and Benton County Road 29.

A Benton County Sheriff's deputy saw the crash unfold as they were stopped at a red light facing eastbound County Road 29.

Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck says his deputy saw a truck driven by 56-year-old Donald Kuklock of Waite Park attempt to make a right-hand turn onto eastbound County Road 29 at highway speeds. Kuklock's truck rolled over and spilled a load of broken concrete onto the road. The truck then hit a van stopped in the westbound lane. Two other vehicles were damaged by the broken concrete.

The driver of the van, 36-year-old Christine Jacobs of St. Cloud and the drivers of the two other damaged vehicles, 43-year-old Crystal Davidson of St. Cloud and 66-year-old Judy Thompson of St. Cloud were not hurt in the crash. Kuklock had minor injuries but refused medical attention.

Kuklock told deputies the brakes on his truck failed and he decided to turn onto County Road 29 to avoid hitting traffic on Highway 15.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation removed the broken pieces of concrete on the scene.
