Council Denies Church Re-Zoning Request

ST. CLOUD -- A south St. Cloud church decided against trying to convince the St. Cloud City Council to re-zone two parcels of land near Tech High School...for now.

The council ruled against the re-zoning request by Good news Assembly of God. The church wanted to sell the land at 712 17th Avenue South and 1602 7th Street South and a zoning change would allow for more flexibility for developers.

Neighborhood residents opposed the plan which would allow for multi-family or apartment living.

The church can again apply for a re-zoning request, but it must start at the beginning and go through all of the proper channels.
