ST. PAUL, Wis. (AP) - A 39-year-old fugitive recently released from prison is accused of carjacking three vehicles, kidnapping two people and then crashing one of the cars in St. Paul.

The crime spree allegedly began around 3 a.m. Wednesday at a Foley grocery store, where Brandon Stark allegedly carjacked an employee at knifepoint and they drove to Minneapolis, where he let the employee go.

He allegedly carjacked another car Thursday evening with a woman inside but she ended up escaping with her keys. He then allegedly took another car, but a Minneapolis officer chased him until he crashed into several vehicles.

Starks was released in May after serving six years for aggravated robbery. He was also wanted on a parole violation.

He's now charged with aggravated first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and fleeing an officer.
